Sergey Kushchenko: «International clubs add variety and excitement to Cup»

On Tuesday, Mega defeated Lokomotiv Kuban in Belgrade in the debut WINLINE Basket Cup home game, after previously beating CSKA in Moscow. Igokea from Bosnia and Herzegovina is also participating in the in-season Cup.

«I would like to remind that this is a experimental tournament with our partner WINLINE, and after the New Year we will see how everything works. After 3 games, we have already analyzed the audience, who is watching us, how the clubs are reacting, including international participants. We are looking at the attention we are getting from the press abroad and here in Russia. I think that after the New Year and closer to the All-Star Game, we will understand where to go from here.

And then there is the Final Four, where Mega could play. Everything is unpredictable; on a bad day, any star can perform poorly, and young players can play as well as Mega did against CSKA in Moscow. International clubs add variety and excitement to the Cup. So, this is all part of the working process, which allows us to analyze where to go next.

Undoubtedly, the Cup is the first step, and someday we want to see Serbian clubs among the participants of the VTB United League».
