Uralmash snatches first win in WINLINE Basket Cup from Igokea

Uralmash defeated Igokea in WINLINE Basket Cup group stage game on the road – 91:86 (16:23, 25:16, 20:23, 16:15, 14:9)

Game progress

The game in Laktasi was the first in the WINLINE Basket Cup for Igokea, representing the Serb Republic within Bosnia and Herzegovina. Strahini Gavrilovic’s confident play allowed the hosts to start with a 14:3 lead. Uralmash recovered throughout the first half and managed to accomplish the task. Extensive rotation helped the Russian team to maintain a good rhythm, with Kirill Pisklov (10 points) coming off the bench to make an excellent contribution. The guests gradually found the shooting touch and ended up leading by halftime – 41:39.

The third quarter was equal and did not fundamentally affect the balance of game. The teams smoothly transitioned into a clutch, but even a nervous finish did not reveal a winner. Towards the end of regulation, the number of shots decreased, Igokea went into the last minute with a 2-point lead, Octavius Ellis tied the score, and in the decisive possessions, the opponents exchanged turnovers – overtime.

Key moment

In overtime, Uralmash’s Hayden Dalton and Javonte Daglas made the difference. The Americans consistently added to the guests score with individual skills, while Igokea had no such heroes. The Yekaterinburg team pulled away from the opponent by 7-10 points, ultimately even managing to avoid tactical fouls. Uralmash secured the first international win in the club’s history and their first one in the WINLINE Basket Cup!

X-factor

Kirill Pisklov hardly took up much space in Igokea’s scouting report – in 8 VTB League games, the guard averages 3.0 points and 1.6 rebounds. Today, the Tokyo 3×3 Olympic silver medalist scored 17 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals on 7 of 11 field-goal shooting.
